Hi. I have to replace the head gaskets on my 96 Z34. Does the timing walkthough on this webpage cover the 96-97 engines? If not, does anyone have a description on how to set everything up?
Thanks a lot
It should be very close if you wish to do the stock cam timing. You will still have the tensioner, the cam flats, and the same routing. Its just the different plenum and the coil pack location that you have to deal with...maybe some more as I haven't seen this setup yet.
On the coil pack set up, one of the "bolts" the bottom is actually a stud on the block, unlike the 10 bolts on the timing cover, the 96 97 has 9 bolts and that stud. I almost recommend a new timing cover. Mine was broke before I inspected the belt, and broke even more because of that stud. It's 32 bucks from GM. Don't know the part number though...
Some friggin day, I'll get to doing a walkthrough on the 96 97. I just got a pretty nice job recently, so I should make it someday soon.
