RANT : lower intake gasket / DEXCOOL

well..for one...finally got to my lower intake gasket today after polishing my upper plenum. lemme tell ya what i found. the lower intake gaskets both were shot at the areas for the coolant passages. nearly no rubber and stuff packed between the rubber and plastic. deteriorated gasket in my coolant passages looking like brown boogers. what else...oh yeah...oil all around the intake ports and a fair amount of coolant around the oil distro cover. DEXCOOL sucks...it is true...it does eat gaskets. i will flush it out and run green i think.

on a brighter note...my polished intake plenum sure is shiny!

I've never had a problem with the green shit and have never seen a reason to use Dexcool. And the green shit is cheaper. SO until I have to, I will use the cheap green shit.

green shit has been around for how long and still does its job perfectly....my point exactly.

DEXCOOL can lick a nut...even the dudes at the parts counter at my favorite stealership say DEXCOOL is a flop and GM wont admit it.

I use the long life Toyota stuff (red) never caused me any problems. Cause both of those others will eat gaskets/engines. But keep in mind that any coolant will if it gets too old. I say for what it's worth dump it once every year or two and put in new stuff.
