I beg to differ with that POS comment. Most of the maintenance (give or take a few pieces) on GM's V6s is a cakewalk. Want a real headache? Do a full tune-up on a Ford contour. Guess where the pcv valve is? UNDER the exhaust manifold, which has to come off to even see the pcv valve.

want to change your oil, get ready to fish your hand plus wrench between a half-shaft and the frame.

I would much rather work on my 3.4 aaaanyday.

i dont mind working on my 3.4. as it was said...intake gaskets are easier on the 3.4 than the 3100.

im in oklahoma city so if youre in tulsa and need a hand, just let me know. i got the DOHC tool kit so timing belt issues can be resolved.

everything else on the motor is a synch let alone the cost of gaskets to fix the oil pump o-ring if done right by removing the heads.

I have bitched on here a few times about the bitch factor of some of the jobs required on this motor. I guess I was just trying to compare say changing an altenator on a '79 Chevy pick up and a 1995 Chevy Monte Carlo. That is so totally wrong! Those are not even comparable. When compared to vehicles of the same type the Monte is fairly easy to work on. I keep hearing these horror stories of taking a fender off to change a battery. Now that is fucked up! Ill change alternators timing belts and intake gaskets all day long any day on the 60/6 compared to the fender- battery deal. Hell an intake set shouldnt take more than what? 45 minutes tops here?

maybe on '91-95...but on my '96 it took a little longer to fidget with. id say, on a good day...itd take 3/4 of a day to tear down and build up again. but if your anal about cleaning old seal and cleaning other things, itll take a weekend.
