  • V6 acting like two 3 cylinders.

hey guys, I remember reading an article on here about a guy that had a power loss issue...something was noted about his engine acting like it was running from two 3 cylinders instead of one 6cyl. I've tried finding this article but I'm not having much luck.

The problem is...my engine is acting the same way. And there sounds like there's some sort of leak coming from down below the power steering pump. I haven't been able to really get under the car to locate where it may be from.

Anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this? Or even what I should be looking for once I get under there? I'm going back to the city later this afternoon, so any quick replies would be greatly appreciated.

is it power steering fluid? can you see the hole where the leak is coming from?

no it's not a liquid leak, it sounds like an air rush or vaccuum kinda sound. and it seems like the same sound is magnified when I give the car high throttle, that's also where I'm experiencing my power loss, at high throttle. There's plenty of low end torque when leaving hte lights though.

have you retimed your car, cause it does that if you have all the cam flats up at once on the engine.

No, never came to my mind that it could be something so simple, I'll give it a try tomorrow when I have the day off, thanks. I also saw a post just a little way down from this one about idle problems and vaccuum lines on the left side of the plenum, I think I'm gonna have a look at those too, see if that's where I'm getting that high pitched "tsssstt" noise from. Thanks for the help guys, and please keep any further suggestions coming.

Its the one jason made. Its skeletor and beastman. Gotta see CKY4 to understand.

If you haven't changed your cam timing, then that won't be the problem. Its just the same situation if you did do the timing and made the flats all up at once. Thats the only way to really make it a double 3 instead of a V6.

so coul the problem be the vaccuum leak sound that I'm getting from the left backhand side of the engine? And if so, what should I be looking for and how do I go about fixing it?
