  • strange stalling since a week

    ok..here it goes..
    i have a cutlass supreme 1991 with 3.4 dohc,automatic with 220 000 km on it.
    about a week ago..when doing highway,normal speed (110 km/h)
the car have "buck",like it was misfiring..but done it like a fraction of a second then everything is fine..
now..after a week on that,,,i have notice that it done it each time the engine is at a certain temperature(almost in conjonction of when the thermostat open),but it does it only when i start the car the morning..after its hot and have pass the "almost stall" thing..everything is fine
now yesterday,it have stalled, and stalled good...i have seen the rpm jump from 1000 to 6000 like i was playing a nintendo game, then its stop and voila..stuck there...beside,the dash rpm was dancing but the engine was missing,..it was not revving at 6000 ....but strangely..this morning i gave i a try and boum..the damn car start..
    so here it goes

    fuel pump seem ok(pressure etc).
    normal maintenance done..spark plug...wiring...air-gas filter.oil.bla bla bla..
what you guys think can be the cause?
is it possible that a wrong cam timing cause that.?
does the ecm is changing something at a certain temp so its find a prob somewhere and shut down??
my guess right now is the control/ignition,coil pack or the ecm itself
computer doesnt gave me a code
    god damn weird
gonna make extra checkup this weekend to pinpoint the prob...\
if you guys have any advice....greatly appreciated..
and as a side note,,im pretty good in mechanics,so i wont have prob doing/working on it..just need some advice as where and what to check in those circonstance..tks alot and sry for the english..

RE: strange stalling since a week

Did you get it fixed? mine is doing something similar, but it seems to be more when the engine is hot, not as badly when it's cold.

      yup!

well yeah man..i got it repair..it was the crank sensor!!!stupid little sensor causing havok!!!!
      easy fix!
and yes...it was when hot...the prob is the sensor was starting to crack(really little crack, almost not noticeable!!!!)then its shortings when coming hot and causing no value for the ecm...ecm shutdown...
      hope it helps!
