Yeah it's really loud, but only when the engine is cold. After it warms up, it quiets a lot. Like I said I really recommend you put a resonator in there. I don't know if the auto's do it, but my manual when coasting after acceleration has all kinds of popping, same with when it's revving down. a 10" or so resonator should do it, you might ask your exhaust shop if they could try a couple different resonators, starting with the smallest ones (probably 6") and going up till you like it. I'm getting either a 6" or a 10" installed this week.

Everyone is getting 18's =( I want to get 19's now just to show you all up!

Oh and in the recording, when I said "This is how loud my voice is." The mic was on the ground about a foot behind my car, and I was standing right at the corner of the bumper.

With my setup, you will probably wake up neighbors at night if you don't coast into the driveway.

Haha, alright thx, I'll see what the exhaust shop can do, but if they're like any other place in this well informed city, im pretty sure they won't even know what a resonator is. Like seriously, what kind of an Alarm/Command start salesman doesn't know what a turbo timer is?

Also, the guy who was selling tires told me i couldn't go to a larger rim size because it would screw up my speedometer and "screw everything up". I felt it was necessary to inform him that tires come in different sizes, and that 225/60/16 is within 0.2% of 245/45/18 on the speedometer, which is like what... 0.1mph at 60?

Seriously, its pretty pathetic when i can go into an auto shop and know more about what im talking about than the people working there. Im not saying i walk in and start stuff, but when a salesman who drives a geo starts telling me he knows more about my car than i do, it tends to piss me off.

I live in a city of rednecks and ricers =(.

if you get 19's ill get 19.5" spinners!

Haha i thought i could hear someone talking, but i couldn't make out what you were saying.

Oh man 19.5" spinners! Watch out big roller.

If I get 19's I'll definately stop trying to make my car significantly faster. I believe Dave (Dykz34) said that when he got his 18's it dropped his et by like .5 sec. That's a lot. My 17's plus tires overall weight is 49lbs, the stock Z34 wheels with 225/60-16 were 51lbs. I haven't noticed any difference in acceleration, except more traction!

I'm sure they'll know what a resonator is, all exhaust shops carry them.

Canadian rednecks. Hahaha. I had a friend from Winnepeg (sp?). Isn't that up there somewhere? I'm dumb when it comes to the Provinces.

haha its ok, im sure i know as much about the US as you know about Canada... but ya, winnipeg isn't too far from here, a couple hours east, and ya canadian rednecks are the worst. They don't have trans ams, they have old F150's or chevy half tonnes and as far as they know fuel injection is just a smaller carb.

But ya seriously im either going 17's or 18's i really haven't decided, i want my car to be a handler with alot of get up and go. I figure anythings lighter than stock rims, my dads expeditions tires are 17"... i could be wrong, but i think they're 265/70/17 and they weigh about 9 lbs less each.

Actually, i weighed my car with stereo, me, stock rims, half tank gas, some stuff i was hauling back from the cabin(say100lbs) and i weighed in at 3698lbs on the scale... anyone else actually weighed their cars?

Ya theres a Z24 that cruises around town, its got a front lip and a fake intercooler, tinted blue tailights, 15" spinner hubcaps... oh man is it sweet, he says it beats talon TSI's, the spinners just add that much velocity, its my first upgrade im doin.

some fiero guys put ferrari muffs on to emulate the sound of the V6 ferraris. Works great...but I hate the sound...rraris are so wheezy sounding. Like the car has asthma =P

As for 1 muffler over 2...sound aside, wouldnt 1 muffler flow worse than 2?

It would. But it probably wouldn't hurt performance terribly. If you wanted to use one muffler, you wouldn't be worried about performance. A lot or people choose show over go.

If people were really worried about street legal performance (if i didn't put that, i'd have people telling me to port the exhaust out the heads/straight pipes) they would get headers and run the exhaust true dual styles. Then you'd get to hear the furry of 2 suzuki swifts roaring side by side . I actually really like that idea of using ferrari muffs, i was thinking about it if i could find some cheap ones, who knows, maybe i'd get lucky and it'd sound amazing... oh wait, i have the worst luck out of anyone i know.

I run a 2.5" high flow Catco converter, 2.5" piping to the stock Y, with a 12" glasspack resonator, and two Flowmaster Super40's, with the Ractive tip that someone mentioned on the ends. I have NO raspiness, and it has a very deep grumble at idle. From behind it sounds like nothing else on the road, no comparisons. Everyone that has heard it since the inclusion of the resonator and those tips, have loved it. I will have to record mine, as I think it sounds well.... however before those tips and the resonator, it rasped to hell, cold or hot. The tips changed the tone of the exhaust as much as if not more than the resonator.... the resonator only got rid of the rasp.

Yes tips are a huge part of the system. My tips changed the tone immensely. Whatever you do, I cannot stress enough, WELD THE FUCKING TIPS TO THE MUFFLERS!!! It looks better and sounds so much better.

                      I still need a resonator.

I think the stock pipe after the Y is 2.25" Just take it to a muffler shop and tell them you want magnaflow straight thru mufflers. They'll measure and get the exact size. They'll have to be center in center out.

                              NO!
NONONO! Don't go to Midas or Mineke. Go to a real exhuast hop, one called "Bob's Mufflers" or something, they'll give you a much better deal.

$80 is just for the muffler. If you got two of them welded on to your care, you'd probably spend $300 just for the mufflers.

I got both of my Magnaflows and my Cat. online (www.justmagnaflow.com for mufflers, cat on ebay), and my glasspack and new pipes from the shop, spent about $425 installed.

If you are putting those mufflers on stock exhaust piping, you want 2" as it goes from 2.25" to 2" after the Y. Also you will need Offset/Center and not C/C. 4x9 oval with 14" body is perfect. That's what I have on my car. The magnaflow part # is 11224.
