  • whistle from my exhaust

I have a 93 GTP (3.4L TDC/5spd) .. I have been hearing this weird noise coming out of my exhaust .. when I turn off my car. It lasts a couple of minutes. And it sounds like air is being pushed through the exhaust. No idea what it is, anyone have this happend or know what possibly it could be?

    Thanks

Could be the AIR injection that the 5spd cars got.... mine doesn't work so I don't know what it sounds like.

Could be those pesky little elves on their way to work. ( I kill me! ) But I would guess something else. Do you shut your car off in gear?

Yeah, I park it in reverse and sometimes in a forward gear (1st or 2nd). Someone had mention something about valves were turned off while still in motion and Im leaking through my rings. Does that make sense to anyone.

Oh yeah, and my Smog Pump (AIR PUMP) is a POS and needs to be replaced. Anyone got one for sale ?

You have latent combustion leaking out. Remember, the engine is hot and any cylinder that is closed will pick up some combustion. It is normal. Automatics don't do it. It is the engine just getting rid of pent up combustion. You can stop it by putting the park brake on and leaving it in neutral. Had to edit this.... Not from your rings. Combustion leaking through rings goes into oil pan. Leaky exhaust valves whistle.
