it is a 92 with the 3.4L ....i did find a bad connection on the coolant temp sensor mounted to the radiator....fixed that and unhooked the battery to reset computer...started great yesterday after replacing the radiator, then pumped out all the tranny fluid and after i shut it down i got nothing

Not sure about a "Safe Mode". That is a Windows thing. But losing tranny fluid isn't good at all. Shouldn't affect the engine from starting. Most can be started on a stand without a tranny attached. Ask Ben.... :PIf you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

that is what i thought, too. but i have had no symptoms of a starter going out....it acts like the solenoid is bad.....maybe covered with tranny fluid? i gotta get it fixed. when i turn on the key, i get almost twelve volts, but when i try to start it, the clock goes off like a dead battery...jumping it wont work either.

Try the basics first. Turn the key on and short the starter lug and bat lug on the starter. If it cranks and runs then sumtins fuct in the key/start circuit. If it doesnt turn over you got bad cables, starter(solenoid), connections or I really suspect a bad battery. I just went thru this last week.(cheap fucking wallyworld bat)2004 Grand Am GT 3400 ... when i 1st got my car i had to replace the tranny linkage for an auto and it wasn't 100% correct and about a month after i got it replaced i couldn't start the car, cause the start switch wasn't being actuated. The Official Rotating Mass Nazi
