First, I just found this forum and let me say I have learned alot about my Z. So thanks!
My problem. I just got a 92 Z34 with the 3.4 automatic that is in great shape except the motor. the guy I got it from said he was driving it and the timing belt let loose. He replaced it along with new pullies and tensioners. Had the timing checked by probably the best mechanic here in town and everything was set good. But there is a loud noise( I Belive he said a knock) that they(Seller and Mechanic) Belive they traced back to the timing chain. Im at a loss at where to start is there something behind the timing cover that can make noise while runing.
Ok where I sit now is the timing belt cover, belt off, and tensioner are all off, He started to pull it apart to change the chain and gave up.
So should I go ahead and pull the cover and check the chain or is the something else I missed while searching on here that is a common problem?
Thanks for any help!
Ryan
