Fuel Line Headache

I changed the fuel filter on my 91 Z34 yesterday. Good thing, right? Well not entirely in my case. The braided hose from sending unit to filter needs to be replaced out repaired now. The hose it's in tact but the male connector's compression band disintegrated in my hand. I guess better now than in the middle of winter. Anyway, any ideas on repairing or replacing it. I tried a screw clamp, local parts stores and dealer. I thought maybe a steel line cut and flared shoved into the existing ends them clamped, maybe.
