I have noticed this noise for a little while now. It has a loud clunk when you rev it up (like around 2.5-3k) and it starts coming down. I have a short video that I'll have to see if I can post. Just getting the convertible back out for the summer and trying to make it last.

It doesn't sound like engine noise... it's like something getting sucked against a opening and then dropped again... there's not something in the air box is there? Or maybe something that's vacuum controlled? Weird.sigpic

I know the speaker in my phone isn't the best, but what I gather from what it a sounds like on my phone reminds me of when the torque converter bolts on the 91 didn't get lock-tite on them after the transmission got changed. It would make a strange clunking noise when it was shut off as the TC bolts would bounce back and forth in the bolt holes in the flexplate for a second until everything stopped moving.

That happened to me once but the TC bolts being loose made more of a noise when the engine was shut down it would rattle.
Now the only other time I ever had a knocking like this was when my low roller sprag in the trans was failing, it would only make the noise when revving and when it finally did fail I lost 3rd and 4th gear. Really can only check that if you pull it apart to inspect it.
