Need Trans Advice NOW!!!!!!

Doing a trans filter change and ran into a problem. When I pulled the filter a small tin metal piece fell out. It's a flat piece with a small v about 1/3 of the way down. Total length is about 3-4 inches. I think I figured out where it goes but which direction (v up or down, closer to the corner or center of pan? I guessed the first time and when I put it into 1st gear, the trans rattled. Don't wanna keep dropping it and guessing.

Ok, I got it, Did some YOUTUBE hoping around and found a quick shot of it. Anyway, I was gonna add some Lucas but there are two types, Trans Conditioner and Trans Fix. With 200k+ on the car, Which would be better at this point. When changing the filter I added about 6 quarts of DEX/MERC from Autozone (they didn't have the Dex6) and am still 1 quart shy for the Lucas. Anyone with any suggestions or preference?

I've used SeaFoam Trans Tune; but I can't say that I noticed any difference afterward.

You might as well just dump in another quart of Dex/Merc.

I would prefer Dex/Merc to Dexron VI. Dex 6 is way too expensive for use in older transmissions.
