Lumina Z34 SES light

Ok, here's my problem: About once or twice a month, I'll be driving along, and my SES light will come on. Then, about 10-15 minutes later, it will turn off. When I try to check the code, its just a 12. There is nothing different while driving, the light just comes on, and then shuts off. What is up with that? Any help would be greatly appreciated, because I hate that damn light. Thanks

The code 12 is normal. Have you waited for the light to blink more than once? It will cycle each code THREE times before it moves onto the next one. I would most likely guess that you are getting an EGR code since it's intermittent.

Yes, I waited for it to cycle the full three times. What would be wrong with the EGR to activate the SES light intermittently like that?

It could be full of carbon causing the valves (internally) to stick. Try taking it off and cleaning it out with brake parts cleaner or something really strong.
