  • 97 3100 trans dipstick into 95 3.4 tube. It Works?

    Hi,

    Please help,

I swapped a 1995 3.4 DOHC engine in my 1997 3100 Chevrolet Lumina LTZ. I replaced the oil transmission dipstick tube only, but I put the stock 1997 3100 dipstick into the new tube and it seems is not the right lenght, then trans oil measurement could be not accurate.

Any one know if the 3.4 and 3100 trans dipstick are the same?

    Thanks in advance,

    Denis V.

If they are both 4T60e transmissions and the tube lengths are different, the obvious answer is going to be to use the matching/corresponding dipsticks.

1997 tube and dipstick should work.
1995 tube and dipstick should work.

You need to figure out what you have. If the tube on the 3100 was longer(?) and you stuck the dipstick in to a shorter(?) 95 tube, obviously you are not going to get a correct measurement.
