  • Question : timing belt sliding a bit on cam gears

So, now my timing belt has a slight movement back and forth just by a fraction of an inch on the cam gears. It is also making a sound kinda like a tick, don't notice any of the belt ribs being cut or frayed yet, but there is belt wear on the outside edge due to new belt rub on cam cover. Any ideas what may be causing but to ride back and forth? This is a new belt with new pulleys with what seemed to be working actuator. Help please.

Sounds like one of your cam gears or idlers isn't on straight you positive you didn't cross thread any of the parts ? also the belt it self could be bent from mishandling. It take it apart and re do it and check each part individually. Could always have a defective part kind like my GF who blew up in my face for little to no F***** reason tonight.

Lol, I will check when I redo timing which will be soon since it is wearing on the outer edge. Thanks for the reply, and good luck with the GF
