  • exhaust leak?

just got done tearing the heads off the monte carlo to change the head gaskets oring timing belt etc. Got everything bolted back together cranked it up and lo and behold I got what sounds like an exhaust leak. Motor sounds great at idle. nice and smoothe. drives real nice too. Just louder than hell. Seems to be coming from behind the motor more on the drivers side. You can smell it too there. My question is about the down pipe connection. Is there a donut there or not? Naturally I was on a dead line and cant remember. The cross over pipe joints seem to be fine. Never unbolted the rear manifold just pulled it with the head. Never unbolted the egr pipe either. Just new gaskets. Any Ideas?

The 95's have basically the same exhaust manifolds as the 91's and the like, so yes, there should be a donut in there.

Thanks for the reply pocket. Figured that out after I posted. When I pulled the rear head /manifold it landed in between the rack and heat shield Thing sounded like shit too.
