ticking sound and bad idle

i just did my timing belt on my 94 z34. when i started it up i got this ticking sound from arounf the back of the timing belt. it is not a constant sound. my first question is the book says somthing about the pulleys going on 1 way and when i pulled the pin out of my new tensioner i dont know if it broke off inside the tensioner. and the noise goes away after you start going. after i did my timing belt my idel is also a little jumpy
