How about some opinions on fel pros top end gasket set for the dohc. Its like $118 from Advance and Auto Zone. Not sure what brand Napa has but they want $189. Anyone know any difference? Oh yeah does that o ring come with it? Mainly wondering about the quality of the head gaskets.

Felpro are the best available for our cars. Get those. Price doesn't matter with our cars some people gouge others don't. Just go with quality.

I have a set ordered that come in tomorrow. This is not the first set I have ordered. That doesn't mean that their gaskets are bad, I think their gaskets are freaking awesome! No, it does not come with the dist. o-ring. As for the quality of the head gaskets, we have re-used mine 2 or 3 times with no problems. I have the front head off of the 91 if you would like a pic to see how good of shape the gasket still is after 2 years I think it is.

BTW, I am going to take a pic of all of the gaskets for the site to link to in the gaskets listing when I get them.

Yeah, a couple of times IIRC. It's not like there were 40k miles on them or anything, more like just a couple of thousand, and they were still holding up just fine till I tore the top of the engine in the 91 off today. Most all of the gaskets still looked fine. Head gaskets looked just like they did the last time the heads were put on about 20k ago. The cam carrier to head gaskets had a few spots where it looked like a leak could develope, but they are thin metal with rubber trails around them, and I really think it was the movement and jarring from removing the cam carriers and such that made the small spots that looked like they could leak.

Lyle your right. On these motors you are best to go with quality cause you sure as hell dont want to go thru the same stuff twice. I have learned the hard way.

              My Fel pro's

              I bought mine for $52.
Came with Both right, left lower intake, Upper Intake, and a cheap black 0-ring.

I actually had to pull the plenum and lower intake a couple of times last week. I was worried about tearing my gaskets but they all held up quite nicely.

No fluid or vaccum leaks so far....

I know, not head gaskets, but, it does show fel pro's reliability.

              test,

                  A few more...

BTW, the large o ring looking ring is for the t-stat. The 6 medium ones are the spark plug holes for the valve covers, and the smaller looking o ring is the o ring that goes between the plenum and lower intake manifold.

                  Enjoy!

$212 for a head gasket set, head bolt set, and Dayco timing belt at Advance Auto Parts Iin Paducah Kentucky. Now I just gotta track all the tensioner crap down.

A buck thirty eight at my local dealership, and I believe that was even after tax.
