Just picked up another 92 z34 5 speed that makes 3 in the stable. Drove this one an hour home with no issues other than not exhaust after the cat. The next day i took it to my garage and it fell on its face when i attempted to give it gas, so i pulled over primed the fuel pump twice and made it to the garage. Took the exhaust off my auto z34 and put on the the 5 speed and made it about 1/4 mile down the road and it died, primed the fuel pump around 5 times and limped back to the garage. Next day i go out and it fired right up but dies when i tried to give it gas. So i get it up on the ramps and call the P.O. and he said oh it has a chip and will only run on 93 so i drained the gas n put 93 in it and it fired up ran for about 2 minutes then died then would not start. I had my girlfriend turn it over while i sprayed starting fluid and nothing happened so i pulled the plugs and they were dry, then i checked to see if i had spark and no spark. Went to autozone today bought a new CPS put it in the car fired up ran for about 2 minutes and died. So i pulled the ICM and took it to autozone and it tested good 5 times. so i guess where should i start pulling parts off my running 92 auto and swapping on the 5spd. My plan tommorow is swapping the icms. the 5 speed has brand new coils on it.

Anyone have a similar problem to this, my 91 auto did this and it turned out to be the relay for the fuel pump, i'll be switching this first tommorow.

also the P.O. informed me the car has sat for almost a year.

im leaning towards the ICM or the fuel pump is dusted

Get a fuel pressure gauge on the relief port on the fuel rail. If you have to continually prime the pump to get it to run it sure sounds like a fuel issue. Either the pump is dying or since you also tested and found a no spark issue there could still be an issue with the ecm thinking that the motor is running and hence no power to the fuel pump.

There should be a lead somewhere around the fuel pump relay that is not connected to anything - it is a test lead that you can use to force the fuel pump to continually run. You can try and force the pump to run continuously - even the with motor off. Does the pump run at all like this? Does it run for 2 minutes and quit?
