  • What Fun!!

    Alright,

After getting my new Alternator and Power Steering High Pressure line in ( Bitch of job I tell ya, both of them) I got motivated (and cocky) and decided to replace my plugs, IAC, PVC Valve, Plemun Gasget, Lower intake Gasget and I've decided to JB Weld the O-ring.
I'm NOT taking the head off. No way.

    Couple things though.
I cannot seem to get the PVC out. I thought all you had to do was pull it straight up and out to remove it. Mine ain't doing that....lol

Also (and this is a biggie) while pulling up on the fuel rail, one of my Injector clips (The part that holds the injector to the fuel rail) came off and I don't know where it went....yea gets better....
It may have gone down one of the intake ports....but I don't know.
So I'll be using a Magnetic extender, a lagre flashligh and a few small extendale mirrors to look for it.
Hopefully because of the torque on those clips, it flew out of the engie bay and into the grass somewhere.

I guess this a lesson to all you newbies. Always cover those ports on the intake manifolds.

Other than that I had a great day......

Shit, that sucks. I don't think that a injector clip could physicaly fit through an open valve. So if you can't see it, I wouldn't worry. BUT DON'T BLAME ME IF I'M WRONG!!!

You could always track down a bore-scope to be 100% sure. If you think about it, it makes sense to pay a bit just to be safe. Of course it won't be there when you check, that's the way these cars work.

        Whew....

        Well, I got lucky.

After searching around the grass for a while I found the clip.
Was pretty messed up so I may need to get a new set of them.

          Shit

          Well, this fu**in sucks.

I take all that shit apart, down to the Lower intake, just to find it dry as a bone down there.
O-ring and surrounding area free from oil.

I was really hoping thats where my mega oil leak was commin from.
          Guess not.

          So, now what?

          Rear main seal?
Oh yea, if its the oil Pan, I'll kill myself.

I am a newbie at this. Cars in general that is. Computers is my thing, but I'm tired off getting ripped. So I HAVE to learn.
Don't get me wrong, I'm having a blast rippin her apart and replacing hoses ,gasgets, plugs, rings, high pressure lines....but I like to get it right the first time.

Pain in the ass those left over gasget's remnents are to get off.

I do have a real concern though.
I accidentally bent one of my Injector clips. I re-worked it and it fits ok, but its kinda loose. I'm worried that when I put it back, fuel from the fuel rail wil not only come out the injector, but from out the rail (where it connects with the injector as well).
I think I'm ok cause all my injectors seem kinda loose where the injector meets the rail.

I guess I'll find out when i start it.

I know, I'm ranting, but thanks for listening anyway.

This place here....right here......is where I learned and gained the confidence that I could really do those $1000 jobs myself, (even though Its taken me 4 days). I worried about every step and there were quite a few steps....lol

But at least I know, I'll never need to take my car in again for intake gasgets or plugs or.......whatever.

Maybe someday, I'll pull the heads off her just to learn that too.

But first I'll make sure I have another car to drive in the meantime.

So, any tips on other sources of oil leaks?
I mean major leak...I bet I loose a quart in 2 hours of driving out the FRONT BOTTOM of the engine. At least thats where its comming down.

Thanks guys, I hope my newbiness doesn't bug you too much.

I'm pretty sure I can handle whatever I I have too.
I have all the tools as well. (No I didn't buy them, I have awesome neighbours who have them all)

          Goodnight,

            Wow, Wrong again,

Got her put all back together again. It ran great...better than I ever remember.
Took a peek at my Distr. O-ring with the car running, and shit myself.
The leak WAS in fact comming from there.

So, you can imagine what I did all Sunday.

Took it all apart again (Alot quicker this time) and Siliconed the snot out of the plug.
I used Ultra Copper Oil resistant, High Temp 700° silicone.
            I hope it works....

            Test,

I hope you loosened the bracket that holds the plug down, and siliconed the snot out of the underside of the top of the plug to make sure it was in there good.

                Oh Yea..

I held up the plug with a small flat head.
Its under over and on top of that damn plug....lol

One thing I did notice was how LOOSE the bolt was holding that clamp.

So, I siliconed the bolt as well....
