  • Need Help!! No tach sig, change Crank sensor?????

Guys I have a 91 gtp, lq1, crate motor 0 miles. Issue, will not fire up, I have 47 psi at the fuel rail, getting spark at all plugs. I notice when I try and crank the tach signal disappears. I have been trying for HOURS to even touch the crank sensor, it's an auto trans and I can't figure a way to remove it. I have tried multiple ideas to try and remove the bolt.

ANY IDEAS?? Oh side note, I looked at lowering the cradle some but as I see that won't help at all. I HATE WORKING ON THIS THING!!

Ticked off in Elk Grove aka RUNDLC

    Any help appreciated

As far as the CKP, I usually have the car up in the air, but not too high. Then while laying underneath looking up between the engine and transaxle at the CKP bolt, I reach over the trans. with a ratchet and extension to reach the bolt. Be careful, it is not uncommon for them to break off in the block if you apply to much side force during removal. Personally, I believe this to be a red herring, because if you have consistent timed spark at all cylinders during cranking, then the CKP would not be at fault. Have you checked for injector signal? Is the injector sub-harness plugged in?

If you ain't rock and roll, you must be driving a Honda

That is what I was afraid of! I wished I had taken the old one out of the bad motor before installing the crate motor I would be driving now. Some say it (crank sensor) can be changed but I have had nothing but grief trying to get to it! I guess I'll keep at it.
