I never dropped the frame to do it, even when the 91 was an auto. I took the passenger side tire and splash guard out and worked through the wheel well after taking the belt and top bolt out from up top. Popping the tie rod end out of the knuckle may gain some more clearance when it comes time to pull it out from the engine bay, but it's been quite a while since I had to change one...

It's the one down but just above and forward of the alt. I believe it's a 15mm.

I always undid the belt and top bolt from above and did the rest from the bottom, so both, technically, lol.

I don't remember if I did or not, but if you do, undo it from the knuckle so you don't change your alignment and have to have it aligned again.
