I used the new search to find anything about cylinder heads, and pulling heads, but nothing came up I know they have to be out there...
Coordination... I called a few local machine shops and told them the same story, low mileage, pulling for other reasons. One shop said 150 per head, which includes everything that needs done, and there is no reason to pull the front head too. Another shop said 450 for both + part costs. They said I must pull both or engine will not run right. What are your thoughts?
Preparation... What should I buy to clean the block before I re-install heads and new bolts and gaskets? What should I buy to clean the threads as the factory manual says?
Installation... The manual gives a torque order, torque value and angle, but doesn't go into any detail. Shall I tighten like lug nuts, a little bit at a time in right order, or put all 37Ib/ft + 90degrees as I go around. Also the manual says to use J-36660, a fancy digital torque/ange meter. I can get it for around 190 from E-bay but is it really necessary? Torqure wrench to spec, then eyeball with rachet for 90 degrees? Pre-oiling head, I have been told to just pour oil all over the head before mounting cam carriers and this will suffice to prevent dry start. Thoughts?
