  • EGR tube Fix

Well I have been trying to find an EGR tube for my 93 Z34, but no luck. So I decided to make one, the only reason I don’t delete it is because of emission, I have to go through. So I thought I would share it, in case anybody else needs one and how to fix it.

    Here is my tube.

    I cut the ends off.

    just other look.

Went out an bought a new Gas Range 3/8 hose (stainless steel painted yellow)

    $10.00 bucks from Home Depot.

Cut the ends off of it.

Then attached them to my old EGR tube ends.

Just need to get it brazed and good to go, I'll post a picture of it after it's brazed and installed.

you can see the thinkness is pretty close.

That also looks like a flared end on the gas hose too, so it might be a little thinner there than the rest of the hose. It looks good, I just hope the gas hose holds up to exhaust temps, which I imagine with the low flow there that it would.

Yeah it is the flare end, so it would be a little thinner, both lines are stainless so it should hold, don't really know what the temper temp of the gas range hose is, but I guess I find out.

So here it is after brazing, It held up to the brazing torch pretty good, so I think it will last awhile in the motor.

I'd take a wire brush to that yellow paint before putting it on the car. I'm sure thats not gonna be high temp.

Yeah, that probably would have been a good idea, like installing the heat shield before brazing it (lol). But I cut it in half (shield) and wrapped around the tube and put a hose clamp on it. It fits perfect, I wil post a picture later.

Now I have a new problem, No Spark on none of the plugs, I have fuel pressure, I can hear the pump prime and the FP gauge tells me its pushing 42PSI but it won’t hold it, bleeds off to 10PSI after cranking. The car ran fine before we pulled the motor, strong, no misses. The motor was pulled to change the oil pan gasket and rear main, while we were in there I changed the front pump seal on the tranny too, now it won’t start. I have been doing some reading on here, I’m going to look into the CPS but would like your guys opinion on where else to check next. Can I check the CPS, while its in the car, pull the plug on modular, hook up a DMM (multimeter) have somebody crank the motor and see a response, it’s a magnetic pick up so I should see voltage, right?

Sweet fix,I love walking hardware stores for stuff I could use for other things.
It's like a junkyard but stuff is cheaper and new.

Clever. Being a 93 if you had tuning equipment you could have plugged it and left the old stuff there to make it look like it was hooked up and disabled it in the tune.. hehehehe.
