  • Question : New guy needs help w/vacuum lines

Hey guys first time posting but have done a lot of reading. I just bought a 93 Z34 3.4 DOHC (love the car) ran pretty good, but it had an oil leak, it would leave small puddles every time I would park it. So I got on-line and found this web site and started reading. Found out about the oil shaft drive. My dad is a pretty good mechanic, so I told him about the oil shaft. We pulled the intakes off and the shaft was dry, somebody had already fix it, had silicone round the top. So my dad said, it has to be the rear main or the oil pan gasket, cuz it was leaking motor oil out the transmission bottom inspection cover. So we pulled the motor and tranny, out the top, separated the tranny from the motor and found the leak. It was oil pan gasket right under the rear main. Here is my problem, I forgot to right down where the vacuum hoses go and some broke the plastic lines were brittle. The person who owned the car before me paint over the diagram on the cross member where the radiator is, I have been trying to find a picture of it and I can’t. Does anybody have a picture/diagram of the vacuum hoses routing for a 93 lumina they can post or e-mail me.

One more thing I would like to thanks all those who have posted here with there information about these cars, cuz without your help I would have never known about the oil shaft, timing belts (going to change to) Alternator, phantom stalling and all the other problems coming my way.

Here is a hand drawing for a 96 DOHC

    Here is one for a 95 (?)

Not sure if these will work for your year, but it might be worth a shot. If anything, contact robertisar (sp?) and he should be able to hook you up.

    Welcome to the site!

Thanks something is better than nothing. kool I'll hit him up. Do you know where I can find one, my Haynes manual doesn’t have one, so I can go out and buy one.

You could goto www.alldatadiy.com and buy an account for your vehicle. Its like $25 for a yr subscription, but its basically access to the factory service manual. The reason I mentioned robert is that he has access to all of the alldata discs, so he can just look it up really quick and provide you with a PDF of what you need. But, I have had an alldatadiy account for 6-7 yrs now and have found it to be very worth the price (yearly updates for the same vehicle are cheaper than the initial).

Ok I found it, and even color coded it for the next guy who needs it. I have one Question do you see the T fitting between the FPR and the PCV. Where does that go, isn't the brake booster the only thing connected to the back of the plenum.

I looked in my Helms last night and didn't find diddly. Where did you find that pic? Yes, the brake booster hose is the only thing that actually goes into the back of the plenum, but there are two stand offs for support that bolt to the plenum back there. The Purge Solenoid also lives back there hanging off of one of those stand offs and doesn't sit right behind the MAP sensor like that pic shows. Those first two pics are for a 96-97 style intake.

My dad got it from a friend of his that works at a local Chevy dealer. Oh the T fitting goes to the back valve cover, I noticed it last night when I was trying to figure it out.
