  • Coolant Temp sender (1 wire on front head)?

Does anyone have the specs of what Ohm/resistance the sender is supposed to be reading at what temp? i tested the one in the car and another one same brand and they are both very close to one another.... Im wanting to know if its just the wrong one for my car even tho the parts store lists it to be correct... I was told Alldata has the specs on what it should read at what temp.. I don't want to go out and keep buying sensors and testing them if the sensor is doing exactly what it supposed to do...

This is the sensor im talking about:

now is that the 1 wire Coolant Temp Sender (controls gauge on dash) or is that the 2 wire Coolant temp sensor (tells the PCM what the opperating temp is)?

It says "on most body platforms there is seperate CTS sensor that runs the dash coolant temp guage." is why i ask... mine doe have both sensors..

Should be the same for both sensors.

Im not sure that is correct for the Gauge temp sender, by thoes numbers it would put the needle to over heating faster then what im seeing with mine.... OR maybe my gauge is trashed.... i hate crap that quits working properly...

I can't say about the guages, but on my 93 Z34 when I forgot to hook up that single wire sensor both fans came on and it set a code. I think also it idled real high. I'd have to say that sensor goes to the PCM. Don't know where the guages get a signal from....
              Good luck,,,,

the gauge gets the signal from the 1 wire sensor on the drivers side of the front head and the ECU reads from the 2 wire sensor on the back side of the lower intake..... OR am i backwords? lol maybe ive been replacing the wrong sensor......

you are correct, the ECM gets the 2 wire, check the diagram i uploaded for a 16149396 ECM if you want more proof.

ok so assume i have the correct sensor in there... what would my next step be to diagnosing the problem... keep in mind nothing was wrong untill i repalced the sensor (original one broke).. the gauge starts climbing slowly like allways then just keeps climbing all the way up to the HOT indicator light comes on...

I dunno but something just tells me to get a different brand sensor..... "BWD....." from checker is what i have.... Both identical sensors read about the same...
