  • P0172 Code

    Ok so i got my car all back together... drove the the gas station put 5 gal in...

    1.) car stumbled and stalled when i put into gear... restarted and reved up a little, put into gear and stalled again... did it a 3rd or 4th time and finally it started and stumbled but got going.. then once its going it was fine, drove and idles fine... (i think EGR... previously unhooked... now hooked up)

    2.) P0172 code after driving from gas station to work... WBO2 read 14.5-15.5 crusing and 10:1 at WOT... its been running recently 11:1 at WOT but for a long time it was 10:1... It is ALOT colder today then it has been in a while.. I googled the 172 code and got everthing from clean your MAF to vac leak. If the EGR is opening i guess that could be causing the O2 to add more fuel.... Hmmm i will try unhooking the EGR now..

    P0172 Fuel Trim system rich generally Fuel Trim Index is below 70 (-46 percent).

    (Egr on actually richens exhaust as there is less oxygen in cylinder charge)

    I would venture to guess that either your HO2S is giving false readings or you have an extremely rich condition at times. (be sure EGR is put put on backwards as the exhaust pressure can keep it open.

    Hard to E-Diag, a Tech2 is handy here as you can go over the conditions that were happening when Dtc set.

      the EGR is not connected to anything (no exhaust gasses going in)... its bolted in but now unplugged..

      Adjusted idle set screw and checked for intake/vac leaks.. Tighter then a bull frogs butthole. adjusting the screw helped..

      LTFT was NEG 18-20% so i think its mostly tune, also gunna regap the plugs or maybe even go back to NGK V-power.. Replaced them during the install with NGK G-Power (platinum)..

      I have DHP (just arrived a few days ago along with new laptop, so im going to jack with it a little).
