  • Timing Adjustment

As simply as possible.... is there any benefit to changing the timing on this motor and if so how do I do it "as simply as possible." I am in the middle of a timing belt install. This is actually my 4th time doing it. (Pulleys failed the second time, and the third time [now] the tensioner failed). Usually I just line up the cam flats, flip the opposite side over, line up the crank pulley, and the motor runs... but it runs good. I was hoping there was a way I could get it a little smoother, and maybe with a little more power? Any suggestions.

P.S. I saw that 6/6 timing online, and I can't honestly understand what to do.

Here's a link to a thread about custom timing:

Here's links directly to pic of the tool you need to do it:

The short version is you use a degree wheel, there is a link in one of the posts, to set the cams to whatever you want and lock the tool there... Repeat with other cam.... Then do it to the opposite cylinder bank. You say you've done the belt before so, you can guess about all the rest that goes along with it,, that I didn't mention....
    Good luck,,,
    AND post your results!!
