Question : Oil in plug tube well - what's the possible source

Hello, I am a newbie to this forum, I have spent some time on W-Body.com.

I own a 1995 Cutlass Vert with the LQ1.

I put the car in storage last winter and when I took it out this spring, everything was fine, it started well, etc. however,

after a couple of short runs, it started missing and I found that plug # 2
tube well had filled up with oil and was leaking out the top of the tube.

What is a likely cause? Could it just be the valve cover "O" ring or is it more
likely to be the carrier gasket?

Anyone that can share their experience with this problem and what was done to correct it would be greatly appreciated.

I am able to do simple repairs on my own, however, if it is something like the carrier gasket, then I will have to take the car to a shop.

99% chance its your valve cover/o-ring seals. when they get old they dry up and leak... VERY common easy to fix, just pull the valve cover on the front and the rear is a little more work because you have to pull the intake manifold to get to the rears.

Thanks, I was hoping someone would say it is more likely something minor.

I have ordered a valve cover gasket set and will hopefully have a chance to put it in on the weekend.

I will let you know how I make out with it.
