Have you solved the loss of the scan tools ability to read anything?

I will be working on that tonight. I had to step away from this car for a few. Needed to clear my head of all the circles I felt like I was going in with it.

So does the new engine have a cam position sensor on the upper right corner of the valve cover? because a 1993 engine does not come with a cps stock.... you said its plugged in but if its not there there would be nothing to plug in....your new engine is a 1993 engine correct?

This site has some good dope on all three sensors involved that might prove helpful with diagnosis (bottom of the page ...in small text). All three sensor operations are very well explained:

I have included some other images from the F-Body Carline Series Service Manual and one that I made up showing all three sensors that may also prove helpful, even though your motor is the VIN "X" Series. For whatever "good news" there might be in this, the one sensor that can put the Kibosh on your engine and not allow it to start is also arguably the easiest one to change out in the RWD vehicles. (The 3X Crank Sensor). I saw one of these being offered on eBay recently for around Ten Bux.

There should be SOME fuel smell... Can you put a Fuel Pressure Gauge on your EFI Manifold and see if you have any fuel pressure while cranking it over?

Don't forget guys that the fuel pump relay is controlled by the ECM. If the ECM is in question (relating back to the scan tool not getting any information when plugged into the ALDL) then the pump will not spin up.
