So does the new engine have a cam position sensor on the upper right corner of the valve cover? because a 1993 engine does not come with a cps stock.... you said its plugged in but if its not there there would be nothing to plug in....your new engine is a 1993 engine correct?

This site has some good dope on all three sensors involved that might prove helpful with diagnosis (bottom of the page ...in small text). All three sensor operations are very well explained:
Crankshaft position sensors -Testing & Replacing On 99-00 Grand Am's Tips and Maintenance Car Forums
I have included some other images from the F-Body Carline Series Service Manual and one that I made up showing all three sensors that may also prove helpful, even though your motor is the VIN "X" Series. For whatever "good news" there might be in this, the one sensor that can put the Kibosh on your engine and not allow it to start is also arguably the easiest one to change out in the RWD vehicles. (The 3X Crank Sensor). I saw one of these being offered on eBay recently for around Ten Bux.Last edited by 60dgrzbelow0; 06-23-2009, 04:18 PM.
