  • valve or lifter?

    Their is a tapping sound coming from the engine.its not a heavy tapping sound but you can still hear it a little.any help on what could be causing this tap noise and how i would go aboutfixing it, would be greately appreciated thanx.My car is a 93 chevrolet lumina z34.

    Could be injectors opening and closing, or a lifter bleeding down and making noise. Just too hard to say without actually hearing it.

      If it gets louder after running it hard, I would vote lifters. If it gets louder after you pull the injector cover off that says "Twin Dual Cam V6" I would say injectors. Both are common with the DOHC.

        thanx.well the tapping sound gets just a little bit louder as u speed up.but you cant hear it once your at a steady speed.

            no it doesnt the tapping actually gets a bit faster.Then it seems as if the noise goes away once at cruising speed.
