The dist. oil pump drive o- ring is leaking like crazy . I read the post about grinding the head to remove the cover without removing the head . how much clearance is needed to replace the o -ring ? Is the jb weld fix a viable option to fix this problem . Please help !!!!

Instead of grinding the head, grind a notch in the plug head about 1/8 inch or so. This will allow you enough room to pry it up about 1/4 inch or so. Then get yourself a couple of old Chevy distributor gaskets, slice them and fish them under the plug with lots of Hi-temp silicone sealer. Make sure the slices on the gaskets are opposite. Ensure that you spread the sealer all around by turning the plug when it's wet. Button the whole thing up and let it sit overnight minimum.
Did this to a 92 3.4 last year and it is dry as a bone to this day. Granted, it's taking the cheap and easy way out, but compared to pulling the head, etc., it's a viable alternative.
Good Luck!

Well , I did it !
Couldn`t get a couple of dist. gaskets locally today , so I got some gasket material and made my own . Put the ultra black Hi - temp sealant on them , and snugged her down . Still waiting for sealant to cure will let you know the results . Thanks to 93oldsdroptop for the help !
