Ok here goes, I pulled the spark plugs out to check the plugs and wires. the plugs looked very sooty, black. definitely running rich. I noticed the plug wire boots were rusty on the outside. Thinking there might be corrosion in the terminal, I sprayed the wire terminals with brake cleaner ( big mistake im told ) to remove any junk that may have been lurking. After this, the engine backfired afew times and now the car WILL NOT START. It fires on 1 or 2 cylinders and reeks of fuel. I've tried everything, I checked the firing order four times. All good. Spark on a single wire, didn't check all of them, too pissed off. I put dielectric grease in all the terminal ends, no more or less than I have on any other tune up. I still havnt fixed the o2 sensor, It ran before I touched anything, not good but it ran. What do you guys think, New plugs and wires? oh yeah, just for kicks, I checked the vaccum hoses behind the engine, theyre all there, no breaks from what I can see. Could junk in the spark plug holes have gotten in the engine and be holding the valves open?

If the wires have rusted terminals chances are you should just replace them. Did you apply anti-sieze to the threads of the spark plugs? I once applied a bit too much to a plugs threads, enough for it to not ground right, and caused the engine to run on 5 cylinders most of the time. It was a bastard to diagnose and drove me nuts. Also did you check the gaps on the spark plugs before installing?1991 Grand Prix GTP LX9swap/Getrag 284 --- SOLD =(

I didn't put antiseize on the plugs, and I didn'y gap the plugs, but the electrodes all looked good, no damage or noticably short electrodes, I should have gapped them, but I want to replace them when I do wires. They didn't look that old or worn. Also the terminals of the plug wires didnt have any visible corrosion, just the outside of the boots were rust colored. If it\'s fun, it\'s probably illegal and if it\'s illegal I\'m probably doing it.

Ok I went and got new plugs and wires. I tried starting the POS before installing the new stuff and what do youknow? THE BITCH STARTED!!! And ran!! Ifigured this was a fluke, so I drove around for 20 minutes, making sure to beat, I mean drive cautiously, And letting it idle for another 30 min. The car has WAAAAAY more power and no miss. The car has not ran this good for me until now.I also returned the wires and got my money back. Now the stupid car is gonna blow up. Just watch. If it\'s fun, it\'s probably illegal and if it\'s illegal I\'m probably doing it.

watch out it might be your crank sensor or your icm. or the wire runing from the crank sensor to the icm.
