Hey guys. I finally got the Lumina Z34 back from the shop. Got rear ended on the highway by a 96 Monte Carlo Z34... Nice hu?
But I was backing into the garage and the Lumina died, again. I noticed everytime I turn the wheel the idle bounces. Step on the brakes and lights dim. There's no stereo in the car at the moment and the blower was off when it died last.
I had the alternator tested with the stereo cranked, blower motor on hi, engine warmed, stepping on & off the brakes. Everytime I step on the brakes the voltage would drop but not real far.
Any way, I'm thinking about replacing the alternator. Since it's finally in the 40s here in Iowa. I've read all the write ups and the manual.
Could the power steering plus brake lights draw enough power on the alternator to kill it? or to cut power to the coils? It always starts back up if you turn the key off. Battery is brand new.
