I can just see all of you saying, "we knew that already." But I'll chance it anyway.
A/C clutch bearing failed, complete lock up.
No big deal, I don't want a/c anyway, and the whole system is shot.
Damn, can't by-pass it, belt has to go that way.
Replace the compressor with another one? Not for $300 for a reman compressor on an a/c system that wont work anyhow! Replace the bearing? For some odd reason, no one has the a/c clutch puller tool, in ohio, in Febuary, Come on, everyone works on their a/c in the middle of winter with 18 inchs of snow on the ground...right?
a/c by-pass pulley kit? SURE!
Go to part store, several of them, no listing for a 1996 Chevy Z-34 Monte Carlo. hmmmm, well I happen to know Dorman makes them for a 3.1, so i have them look specifically into Dorman. No listing.
On a quirk 4 days later, i look up a 96 grand prix GTP, they got one for that one! Same damn car, same damn motor, Dorman got a nasty letter from me.
