  • high coolent temp's

Hey, today I was working on my Z34, and didn't realize it, but I cut one of my plug wires on the cooling fan, so I found my bad idle problem (real easy to spot) anyhow, the motor had been running for a while and had very much overheated the catalytic converter and plugged it up (I could tell by the way it was running, and sounding, plus a few other little tests) so naturally I pulled the 4 bolts that hold it to the rest of the exhaust system and gutted the thing out (temporary till I get a straight pipe welded in) but I noticed when I started driving today that my engine tempatures are climbing much more rapidly then they were before, anyone have any Ideas on this? I checked my cooling fans, and they both seem to be working properly.

    any help would be awesome

    Thanks in advance

First thing I would do is change your T-stat, in hopes that the temp. is coincidence. I don't really see how it could have been caused by what has happend lately, but you never know. I would also look for coolant "weeping" out of the water pump, depending on the mileage of the engine. The 91 hit 152k before needing a water pump.

welp, this engine has 40k since the rebuild, it's running strong, I'll check/replace the T-stat, I also noticed that I lost all my vacuum actuated toys (HVAC and Cruise)

I'm goin' to check 'er out now.

      Thanks!
