  • Changing Power Steering Pump? (3.4 z34)

Anyone know how hard it is to change the power steering pump?

Mines out and im about to pickup a new one and throw it in, Just wondering if its going to be the usual nightmare z34 job.

    Thanks

Surprisingly that IS one job that IS as easy as it looks!!! Just disconnect the lines, one is a hose clamp the other is a fitting. Pull the serpentine belt and there are 2 or 3 bolts that hold the pump on. A little twisting and turning will get the pump out....
    Hopefully this helps....

It is quite easy. The pressure line has a 16mm nut on it, and the return line is held on qith a hose clamp. 3 bolts hold the pump to the timing cover, just turn the pulley till the holes line up with the bolts. One they are out pull it toward while simultaneously rotating it upward and it comes right out. Once you have the new one in, jack up the front of the car and turn the steering lock to lock for a couple minutes with the cap off. This will bleed the system out quite nicely and you're done.
I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.
