  • replace Intake Manifold gasket - oil drive fix

I'm about to do the oil drive pump fix soon (on a LQ1), not sure how yet - but that's not my question.

With the intake off, should I replace all the gaskets on the Intake Manifold? since its all going to be apart

The lower intake has stiff plastic gaskets with a silicone seal on both sides. The Plenum Gasket is made of paper and definately needs to be replaced. If there is no leak now there is no reason to pull the lower intake unless you think the gasket is deteriorating. When you pull the plenum off there is a 2" rad hose under the Plenum under the throttle body that is hard to see and may get missed. Most gasket sets are around $65 for this engine. I would leave it as you'll have to pull all the injectors and run the risk of making more leaks than preventing them later. Use lots of brake cleaner to clean the distributor plug area and slip an oil resistant o-ring around the plug. Use some RTV as well.
