93 z34-just quit getting spark! help please!!

my buddy has a 93 z34 that only has 100k or so on it and he was driving home from work & he just quit getting spark! hes pretty pissed so hes gonna drive his other car & he said hed sell me the z-but i need to figure out what the problem is gonna be (worst/best case scenario) generally so i know what i should check out & what i might be getting myself into.

there was no fire or anything-it cranks & everything-everything works-just no spark at all!

The two most likely things that could cause no spark is the crank sensor going bad or possibly the ignition control module. Will the car start up and run for any amount of time when it is completely cold?

nope-it wont get spark at any point-cranks and everything though

also-how much are those items new-usually-& how bad are they to install?

i'd put money on the crankshaft position sensor, they're like $15 and it depends on if the car is auto or manual.. the auto tranny makes it a bit harder to get to.

it's on the back of the block, a little above the oil pan and right in the middle. It should have a 10mm bolt or nut. Be carefull removing it as they usually like to break on the way out. If it breaks then he'll either have to drop the oil pan and push it out or get creative with needle nose pliars.

Exact same thing happened to my GTP. It was the crank sensor.

happened to my 3100. Don't get autozone replacement ones though, those last only 1 year. Trust me, and several people I know locally. One person thought the crank was hitting it taking them out, then he heard about the autozone ones being shitty and went to a different store and it's been fine since! LOL
