  • Question : noob needs a huge favor...

I'm working on my dads car (my old car) that's a 93 Olds Cutlass Supreme SL with the TDC V6. The vacuum hoses seem to be completely wrong according to the diagram, and I'm trying to get it straightened out. Someone had stuck the PCV valve right on the side of the throttle body instead of the back of the engine, etc. From the few pictures I've seen, the tube that runs down to the valley between the heads is what is supposed to connect there, and there isn't supposed to be a PCV valve in the line.

What I was wondering is if anyone had some pictures showing how those hoses are supposed to be hooked up? All the way from that plastic tube that sticks into the rubber intake elbow, to the PCV valve and the EGR hoses that run directly behind the back of the intake?

I have a vacuum diagram of the motor, but it's in Word. The quality is so poor I can't scan it and post the pic. If you give me an e-mail address I can send it to you.

My PVC valves DID install right next to the TB on that hose you are talking about. If you leave that line without a PVC valve in it, your engine is going to suck oil mist into the cylinders like there is no tomorrow making it smoke and consume more oil then it should. BTW, welcome to the forums

This is why I'm really needing to see how it's supposed to be. The diagram under the hood is so pathetic that all it does is confuse me.

It looks like the diagram under the hood is completely wrong, and that the hoses were mostly correct. There were a couple hoses replaced with some cheap junk green tubing, and the hose running to the intake boot was just sucking dirty air in from the engine bay. I may need to make a trip to a wrecking yard.
