  • Abs/brake Light

So im guessing it is going to be one of my wheel speed sensors but i figured it would ask if anyone has any other ideas what to check. So my "ABS" light is on all the time, other times my "BRAKE" light and my "ABS" light are both on on the instrument cluster... (NO my park brake is not engaged). then if i shut the car off and restart it the "Brake" light goes off. the car is parked on flat ground and my fluid is full. any ideas? would my battery cause a problem being in the trunk... ie, not enough power, ect...?

do the lights stay off until the car starts moving?

If it is a wheel speed sensor, and the wiring has not been damaged, then if the ABS light only comes on when the car is moving, then it is a wheel speed sensor. If the light comes on as soon as you start the car, then it will be either a wiring problem, the ABS unit itself, or the ABS computer.

Have you replaced your EBCM recently? There is 2 different ones. If you put the wrong on in (for the NV7 steering system) then it will probably turn the light on as well.

It comes on as soon as i start the car. like i said the ABS light is allways on and the "Brake" light is on every now and then but if i shut off the car and restart it right away the "brake" light goes off and the ABS stays on. I have not replaced the EBCM.

Deffinitly sounds like a wheel sensor. Have it scanned and see what it says. Should be a $10 fix at the JY.

You cannot diag ABS without scanning it. It could be anything..

Is it raining or wet outside when the light comes on? I know if it is or if I drive through a shallow puddle my ABS light comes on.

fixed the problem. the rear wheel bearings/speed sensors where wrong. put both the correct ones on and walla abs works perfectly.
