  • Question : Cutlass Supreme LOW COOLANT light WTF?!?!?

For about a month now, my LOW COOLANT light has been coming on, but not BRIGHT. It comes on at light HALF INTENSITY, or just BARELY on. The coolant level is fine.

Sometimes it does not come on at all, but now, it is almost always on, but it is not bright at all. I will try to get a pic of it later this evening.

This is in my 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme SL 3.4 DOHC.

if I knew what to replace, then I would not need to ask. Are you telling me the LOW COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR is bad? If that is the case, I have like 3 spare ones. I am sure one of those is good.

          Taylor,,
For what it's worth, when I replaced the engine in my 93 Z34 that light started coming on,,,, VERY dim... In fact if the sun was bright enough you couldn't see it.... And it only came on when the engine was cold,,,, when warm it went off... What I did was carry a wrench (7mm?) with me and kept stopping and bleeding the hell out of it.... I'd stop with the car facing uphill, downhill,, even after a pretty hard blast (not too hard,, freshly rebuilt tranny). After awhile the light stopped coming on... Don't know if this will help you,,, or,,, even if the excessive bleeding had anything to do with it...
          Hope this helps,,
          Good Luck,,
          Tom
Also, I had my radiator cleaned and a cracked tank replaced by a radiator shop before I installed it,, that may have had something to do with it...

Could be a possible air pocket as suggested by Walter or a bad coolant level sensor. GL.

i think I am going to do the low coolant level sensor. I have a few spare ones, and I know the one I used in my 1988 Cutlass Supreme (OBD2 swapped) works.
