Good morning, I'm a nooB on this forum and have been trying to sort out a problem I am having. I have a terrible "cut" in the engine power at about 3-3500RPM's if I bring up the engine rather slowly to said RPM's, it also will not go any higher in throttle from that point. The engine noticeably stumbles and surges. If I simply go to WOT, I don't notice the issue. It almost seems like a rev limiter or something is stopping the engine from getting the fuel or spark it needs. Here is what I have done so far:
-new plugs- I had AC Delco's in there and decided to try something else and see so I got the dreaded Bosch +2 before I heard everyone knocking them. I looked for the Rapid Fire's, but they were not available for my car. Anyway, I'm not switching them out since it's not the cause of the issue( it was there before these plugs)
- cleaned MAF
- installed K&N replacement filter
- checked plug wires for cracks or wear spots
- checked PCV valve
- replaced cracked PCV hose
- replaced purge valve (emissions)
- ran Valvoline injector cleaner through and some 93 octane gas (full tank)
I am going to check the timing belt for wear next. Above 3000 RPM's the car likes to run, it pulls really well. The last 0-60 I ran BEFORE plugs and PCV hose fix was 9.5 seconds... a total dog until the higher RPM's...it was 4-4.5 seconds from 20-60MPH. This was not a perfectly flat run, but straight and a very slight incline. I would greatly appreciate any info you can offer. By the way, I had two codes before I did the plugs and replaced PCV line;
P0102 MAF or VAF low input
P0441 EVAP emission control system purge flow fault
I erased the codes and have only gone 20 miles or so, but the codes haven't returned yet.
Any ideas????
Thank you in advance. Feel free to send me emails
