Tell me, what do you think? When i turn the key, 8 out of 10 times my starter just goes "click", "click" and then it turns over. The starter is new and has been tested. It turns over everytime at the parts store. Whats really goin' on? A ground issue? A starter grounds itself when mounted to the block right? Anyway, share your thoughts. Its on a 91 GrandPrix, Auto

Do you own a voltmeter?...1st off, check your system voltage to see that you at least 12v in the system, have your battery load tested to see if there is not a bad cell, (you can have 12v with a bad cell, but the battery will not have the ability to supply a heavy current), clean your battery terminal connections as well. Is the heavy ground cable from the battery to the engine block tightly connected at both ends & in good condition? Same goes for the Pos side cable. .. hope this helps...Good luckLast edited by 55trucker; 05-11-2008, 10:38 AM.91 LQ1 GP GT

90% chance its the connection at the remote battary post (jump start post). On the side there is an 8mm bolt holding a small gauge wire. Clean that connection and tighten the bolt. In some cases the circuit can overheat resulting in damage the plastic relay box the post is attached to. If that happens you have to either replace the relay box, or get creative.
heres a pic of what your looking for

To confirm, you're saying it could be the positive cable wire that comes from the remote post meeting with the main positive cable wire at the battery. Today i tried to securly tighten the screw that connects the positive cable both leading from the starter and remote post but no change... some clicks and then a firm start.
