ok 13 degree retarded timing....

why am i measuring from the cam flat to the carrier bolt? when is the cam supposed to be at that point? also, ifi was to make a hold down tool taht only held one cam at a time.. how would this benfit me?? i mean why am i only holding down 1 cam? someone please help.

You are measuring it if you don't have the ability to hold 1 cam down flat. All measuring does is verify its flat (measure them at flat). I now have a small block that sits on the cam flat and is flush with the top of the cam carrier. Much easier/faster.

You only want to retard the exhaust cam, not both.
