I will be doing tons of work on my 3.4L again after May 5th...New valve assemblies, replacing 8 lifters on the front pass. side bank, grinding seats to fit new valves and lapping, new idler pullies and tensioner, new timing chain and sprokets, intermediate shaft seal, head gaskets, cam carrier gaskets, valve cover gaskets, cam seals, new thrust plate seals...Mostly Genuine GM except for springs I took sappy's advice.

I have completed my top engine gasket kit from GM, I had to get one head gasket and cam carrier gasket...

I am getting a weird sound that intensifies with heat form the front bank, louder when timing belt cover is removed, only when the engine is hot, sounds so much like lifter knock or valve stick, there is even a slight chirp to the sound..Possibly I have an idler going bad..
        I am back

get a stethascope and check out the timing chain area, i had a noise that sounded like it comming from the rear bank excatly like what you decribed and it turned out to be the timing chain tensioner. but who knows with these cars most of the noises sound the same but turn out to be completly different problems.
