  • Help!!!

The Timing belt broke on my car a few months ago and im coming around to getting it fixed now. I have a few Questions if anyone could please answer them.

Does anyone have a picture or know where i can find a picture of the firing order of the cylinders and where they are?

How do you make sure the cams and the crank are in time?

And is there a metal timing chain behind the belt?

If anyone could get back to me as soon as possible with any or all of these answers it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

They say every 60000 miles. But do it every 30000 miles to be extra safe and to avoid the belt-stretch fucking up your timing.

Hey jjs316, you should go spend $13.00 and get a Chilton's Manual. It's got all kinds of neat pictures and shit. They help alot, I got one. As for the cam timing if the book can't help, check out the maintence section on the home page it's got a great walk through. Anything else, we'll help you.

          Piston placement Dia

          Someone wrote 93-up...

          I am guessing older 91-92 DOHC's were 3,6 and 93-up was 6,3...

I don't know if it makes a difference. I can't even remember if I am the one that wrote that.

                  "I am guessing older 91-92 DOHC's were 3,6 and 93-up was 6,3... " - It does not matter whatsoevers.

each coil fires both cylinders simultaneously, you can change them all around as long as the right coil is going to the right cylinder.

picture in this thread...If you want a break down picture it will take time. I don't have a picture piece for piece simply because that is the way the manuals are.

I have used this link many times for pics and all sorts of info on this engine. Only thing I can't find is how to fix that darn noise in my door! Search this site carefully, it has a lot of good stuff!http://redfox340.tripod.com/wbodyperformance/id2.html

Would anyone happen to have a picture of whats behind the timing belt? Like one without the timing belt and sprockets on it?

why do you need to see behind? all there is isa timing chain and if you dont need to change it dont! mine broke last year and it was a bitch to do! they way you can tell if its broke is if when you turn the crank the bottom timing belt gear dosnt move. and if your chain tensioner is shot when you start it up it will sound like valves hitting pistions! very bad noise. i can get you some pics probably but you would have to wait a few days for me to rip my engine on the stand down.
