  • Ignition System

Hey Guys, could some body let me know the circuitry of my 94 grand prix's ignition. From battery to key to starter and any relays in between. Also possible locations of them. Scimatics would be great. Thanks

Hey guys, looking at this could the theft deterrent relay cause my car not to turn over. Or is it usually the ignition switch? Keep in mind that I have put in 2 new starters and it still does the same thing. But the old one never did this. When you turn the key, the selonoid clicks but it won't always engage. Some times it takes twenty tries.

from your last response it sounds like high resistance in the starter wires. have u done a voltage drop on the wires?

Do you mean the primary from the battery to the starter. I checked all the connections twice and cleaned all the terminals. But like I said the old starter never did this, only the new ones. The car cranks strong, it just doesn't engage all the time.

Wierd. My auxilary terminal goes to the battery, but then the terminal has another wire to it, that wire goes down to the starter and then to the alternator. It doesn't sound like your setup is the same as mine.

Lyle's GTP Hey man I got a similar problem. Posted a topic about it and only got like one reply. I replaced my battery cables and it hasnt failed in at least a week where as it was screwing up every 2-3 starts. Warning dont go to the dealer. They want $100. Got mine at NAPA for $30.

Thanks, I'm going to do custom wires anyway so I will get the project underway.
