  • no tc lock up

have no tc lock up i have un pluged my alarm thinking maybe it was appling the brakes do to the fact that it is wired into the brake switch for the remote start and that it has done it before. i also have checked fluid its good, and the fuse under the hood is good also.. last night my car was missing and chuging all over the place i pulled the plugs cleaned them and regaped them and it seemed fine intill today again when My tc wouldn't lock up and it starting to miss again, my new guess is maybe the TPS the ar only starts to miss when i floor it. and i was thinking if the the TPS isnt telling the computer that I have let off the gas and im not acc any more and cause it not lock up , i dont know I NEED HELP THIS CAR IS REALLLLLY STARTING TO PISS ME OFF!... i just put a trans in this car in october . i reallly hope the tcc sol didnt die !

Did you plug it back in when you put the trans in? Did you scan your car for any codes or to see if it is staying in open loop?

The TCC SOL is inside of the trans on the driver side pan i ddint have to plug to it in, the car did throw a code today. code 44 exhasut lean.. SO here is my idea of whats happening. Any one correct me if im wrong.

Codee 44 means Engine Running Lean, Now from my understaing there are three sesnors that play a role is the lock up for a 4t60e OB1
      1.TPS
      2VSS
      3CTS

Now the 3.4 dohc has two coolant temp sensors, one under the tb and one in the front cyl head hiden by the cross over pipe. The one under the tb is used for the ecm to make a fuel mixture. the other in the cyl head is for the gauge and the gauge only.

Now the coolnat temp sesnor (ecm) tps, and vss all have to be at cetrain values to allow the tc to lock up for example,

CTS Should be at least 160 F
VSS should be at least 45-50MPH
TPS no more then 15% open.

Yesterday I pulled my plugs BLACK AS HELL which are signs of rich mixture?

Well anyways now that all the info is out in the open this is what i think is going on.

The CTS is giving a false reading to the ecm saying that is less the 160 F which is making it DUMP FUEL FUEL so that the engine can warm up and its reach it operating temputre, no mean while the car has been running for 30 mins the computer decides ok, This car should have reached Opertaing temp meanwhile the car is still dumping fuel fuel so ecm saya ive had enough leans the mixture out throws a code 44 and still the cts is saying its 120 f not allowing the tc to lNOT ock up ! And the computer throwing a lean mixutre and not a rich mixutre right away is do to the fact that the computer never reached closed loop to detect it was running rich !

Dont forget a faulty EGR or Oxygen sensor can cause for those conditions too.
