I just got two replacement springs from the chevy dealer. They appear to me to have the same free length (1.665") as the springs that came off my engines. I have measured their open pressures to be about 167#@1.00 inches. It looks like the replacement springs from the dealer are closest to the later, weaker springs.
A word about my pressure measurements: I am using a spring pressure gauge that just has a kind of steel ruler next to the spring as it is comressed. Consequently, my height measurements are only as accurate as my ability to estimate distances smaller than 1/16th". For instance, I cannot tell the difference between 1.00" and 1.03".
